16 BITS * Active: 2000s * Genres: Electronica Biography 16Bit aka DRT and Kidnappa. Nema se kaj puno reć o njima jer postoje kao 16Bit tek cca 8 mjeseci. A i svako bi ih mogao drukčije opisat "...between the rave heads and the progressives...". Zato je najbolje - poslušaj i prosudi sam!
'In The Death Car' starts off with what sounds with a sample from Emir Kusturica's Arizona Dream (check out Goran Bregović awesome soundtrack if you don't know it), but soon descends into fierce synthline manipulations and stinging rave signals certain to fire up the dance:
'Ford Fiesta' on the flip smashes one out for the party crew with a cheeky Spanish riff giving way to another lethal hit of brukkout breakstep that's found favour with everyone:
"Chainsaw Calligraphy" is unbelievable. It's the year's first audio attack. A mental breakdown. Within three minutes, 16 Bit have managed to make one of the nastiest and most wrong-headed, ridiculously jilted, volcanic, and unstable experiments with malicious dubstep to date.
kako electronica ne govori ništa? u užem smislu to znači da je to sveskupa malo teže svrstat tj. da je nekakav mashup...npr. dole je admin u elektrotehnohouse podforum dodao elektronika baš iz razloga jer je neke stvari teško svrstat generalno pod žanr...dole se pod tom klasifikacijom misli npr na dfa records...isto tako tu moš svrstat izvođače kao što su orbital, underworld i šta ja znam koji su nekako iznad specifičnog žanra...doduše u širokom smislu ne govori ništa osim da je elektronska glazba...

Pa jedino znacenje je upravo to opcenito, tj. sva elektronska glazba ili Electronic dance music. Ak nesto ne mozes svrstat ne znaci da ces to nazvat electronica, imamo vec rijec za to: nesvrstanost, a da je elektronska glazba je jasno. Ono sto me najvise iritira je sam nastanak tog pojma i njegova upotreba u znacenju glazbenog zanra. No da ne serem dalje, povodim se za ovim i smatram to potpuno tocnim:
Electronica does not exist. Not as a genre or a description. It was coined by the North American music press to refer to the second wave of electronic music's explosion in the late 90s, and exists purely as a marketing buzzword, not any actual quantifiable branch of music (the first wave of electronic music, incidentally, they called 'techno', and, having driven the word into the ground beyond all sense of meaning, they couldn't keep using it if they wished to re-market the music). Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim, Prodigy's 'Fat of the Land', Chemical Brothers and other big-time stars of that period were all called "electronica" at one point or another... ...So yeah: There is no such thing as electronica... ...If you want to talk about the music as a whole, simply call it what it is: "electronic music" (or EDM--Electronic Dance Music--for the club/rave stuff)...
