| Citat: | 'Skin' - Rennie Pilgrem's third artist album is going to be sold via clubs via an SMS code that will enable gig goers to download the album for a mere £3. The price will then be added to their phone bill, no need for a creditcard!
12 tracks of mainly dance floor heaven lean heavily towards the live sound he has been perfecting with his Band 'The TCR Allstars'. After only 2 years and only a handful of gigs they have joined the ranks of such luminaries as The Chemical Brothers, The Bays, Pendulum as one of the '20 best live electronic acts to see' in iDJ magazine.
Says the man himself;
'There are four things I want from a track whether I am djing it or making it. Great beats, fat bass, hooks and the funk'.
Contributing vocals are from Ruth from NZ band Minuit, Rapper Mc Manic, the mysterious Bella Saer and Larry 'Mr Sopranos' Love from Alabama 3.
Since his last Album Pilgremage, Rennie has djed around the World 3 times, written several pieces of music for video games and some ads. He's produced his own weekly radio Show on Galaxy and co-run the Breaksday Tent at The Glade Festival and its spin-off little brother STIR.
This is a new and unique way of album buying and saves the hassle of carrying home a cd from a gig or avoids the security risks that buying online with a creditcard can involve. Once you text you receive a unique link which will allow you to download the album onto your computer.
For 'Skin' Pilgrem has again collaborated friends like BLIM, Uberzone, Arthur Baker & Chickaboo but this time on some tracks he has augmented his keyboard skills with live drums, bass and guitar and a Seven piece horn section.
But that doesn't mean that Pilgrem has gone soft and deserted his club roots, far from it. There are enough 'bangers' on here to keep the most 'munted' clubber more than happy. Including recent big tune 'Drumma' plus Eraser and several brand new underground bass invaders.
Annie Nightingale is calling this album 'Breathtaking'. |
