..Lethal (real name Dan Franklin) found his introduction to producing with a Commodore Amiga and a copy of Octamed in the early 90s. Around the same time he got into mixing and started himself on what was to become his chosen path. Influenced by early Hardcore and Detroit Techno it shaped his style to a point that is evident in his music today. Around late ’96 the Tech-Step boom in Drum n Bass broke in a big way and Lethal found himself hooked on a genre that fitted his taste and attitude… Around early ’99 after placing 3rd in a blatantly rigged! DJ competition he started playing out regularly at various parties and clubs including the infamous Club Labrynth. He also started playing on a few pirate stations and eventually found himself on Rude FM at the start of 2001. During this time he also completed a Music Technology course and went on to set up his own studio for hire. Honing his engineering skills he moved his studio to Café Music in East London, it was here he fine tuned his abilities and his production methods. Working on projects from Rock and Pop through to R ‘n B, Hip Hop, Breaks, House, Techno and of course Drum n Bass. Rude FM proved to be the break he was looking for in his career, through the station he not only raised his profile but eventually met a young upstart by the name of Khanage, who after a few conversations Lethal brought down the studio and a new partnership was formed. They first got the attention of the Ohm Resistance outfit based in New York, USA. Label boss Submerged saw the punky attitude in the music and signed them up straight away… Five releases later and they’ve worked their way to prime priority on the Ohm Resistance roster. Raiden then signed the pair to his Techno/DnB crossover label Offkey Recordings; coming at the sound from a different angle the tracks did the talking… and the dance-floor destruction. Cut to present day and Lethal is now focusing on solo projects as well as setting up his own label. With releases forthcoming both solo and with Khanage as well as collaborations with other artists. He is DJing regularly worldwide and will happily tear up any club you choose to put him in… Keep tuned for the next episode... ..
